Tommy Hughes
President - Air Force

Tommy joined the VFW Auxiliary in 2016 under his grandfather who was a US Army WWII Veteran. Tommy is a United States Air Force Veteran and served from 1979 until 1983. Tommy joined the Auxiliary because of his desire to serve and give back to his fellow Veterans and Community.
 
Tommy has served the Auxiliary in many capacities. He has served as: Patriotic Instructor, Chaplain and the President of Auxiliary 2283 in Russellville. He has also served as Arkansas' District 6 President. On the Department level Tommy started out as Assistant Department Conductor, and then he proceeded up the line from Guard to now serving as the 2025-2026 Department President.
 
Tommy attended Russellville High School, the USAF Computer Repair School, Troy State University, and various Business Machine schools where he received certification on many different machines.
 
Tommy enjoys Hunting, Fishing, and Gardening. He is a licensed Amateur Radio Operator, a pool player, karaoke singer, avid reader, and a cook with a few secret recipes.
 
Tommy is also a member of the Arkansas River Valley Amateur Radio Foundation, NWTF Committee member, American Legion, and TALARC member.
 
Tommy is a widower with 3 children and 1 grandchild.
