Veteran And Military Support Programs & National
Veterans Service
There
are many ways that the VFW programs can support Veterans. Every Department has a
Service Officer dedicated to helping Veterans & Families. Locate your
Service Officer and invite them to speak at your Post. There are many programs
to assist, such as Unmet Needs or Military Assistance. Learn what they are and
educate the members and community. Offer to support a unity pre or post
deployment. Learn what financial grants are available from the VFW to help with
events. Remember the troops serving today are our future members.
Suicide Prevention and
Mental Health
The
battle is not over just because they came home. We cannot stop ensuring that
the community and our members are aware of the warning sign of anyone possible
considering ending their life. Promoting that help is just a call away at 988
(Press 1) can save lives.
Employment
Assistance for Veterans
When
a service member leaves the military, they begin a whole new lifestyle. It is
not as structured as the military way of life. Often their spouse is experiencing
the same difficulties in finding employment due to many relocations. Consider
hosting or participating in a job fair or skills seminar for local veterans and
spouses. Let them see that we are here to provide assistance.
National Veterans Service
National Veterans Service: NVS helps veterans, service members and their families obtain the benefits they deserve- at no cost. It provides a network of 300 VFW Service Officers who help veterans navigate the VA system. They recover more than $1 billion annually in VA benefits for veterans and their families.

Veterans & Military Suicide Prevention and Mental Health Awareness
We can make a difference in the life of a Veterans in crisis by educating ourselves and others about the warning signs. Call 988 and Press 1 in a in crisis for immediate help. Chat online at veteranscrisisline.net.
Mental Wellness and Support has many resources and this year we will educate ourselves on all the possible sources of help. By changing the stigma and improving research our Veterans can live a healthier life.
