Patriotic Youth Awards
Patriotism through Literacy - Illustrating America
Youth reading to Veterans and or Veterans reading to Youth.
There is a special National award for participating in this part of the Youth Program.
Reading is such an important part of education and learning about others. Choose books from the Patriotism through Literacy list.
Work with your local library and see if there is a time when a Veteran can read to youth or have the children read to them.
Ask you local Nursing Home if a space could be found where youth could read to the residence, especially the Veterans. Through books children learn about our county and Veterans.
Sponsoring and Working with Youth Groups
Did you know an Auxiliary can sponsor a youth group and engage youth in any one of our programs?
Take advantage of the service aspects some youth groups require. Scouting groups and ROTC Units require various types of community service or activities to earn merits in their units. College-bound seniors earn school credit for some of these same activities. High School students are now being asked to do community service for graduation credits.
