NEW THIS YEAR: PROGRAMS HAVE UNIQUE QR CODES WITH A DIRECT LINK TO THE PROGRAM.
Do you often say "Thank you for your service” when you see a Veteran. That is an acknowledgement of their sacrifice. You can go beyond words and put your gratitude into action. The Legislative Program gives you the power to advocate for legislation that improves lives for Veterans and their families.
When you meet with or host a roundtable with Legislators, Veterans, and family members you can learn the impact that legislation has on their lives. It also ensures that Legislators understand how their decisions affect the families that they have met.
Follow-up with Gratitude
After these opportunities to meet with Legislators please send an email or thank you card. This will show the Legislators that they were heard and appreciated. It gives you an opportunity to share how their actions will be viewed in the community. This reinforces discussion and keeps communication live.
Legislative "GRATITUDE Days”
Create "Gratitude Day in your Auxiliary. These are specific days when all members will contact their Legislator with a message of thanks, while letting them know that you are watching what they do. Key dates could be Veterans Day, Memorial Day, Vietnam War Veterans Day, Armed Forces Day, or birthdays of the Military Services
