Be An Advocate –Join VFW Action Corps Weekly
Be Informed Know the VFW Priority Goals
Legislative- This purpose of this program is to urge our legislators to preserve veterans’ rights and entitlements and to advocate a strong national defense.
VFW Auxiliary members are instrumental in assisting the VFW pass or block legislation that impacts veterans and their families. Each year, members contact legislators to share our views regarding such legislation with them and invite them to share their positions on veterans’ issues; we hold legislators accountable for honoring America’s promises to our nation’s veterans.
Become an Advocate in Action
Priority Goals: Become familiar with these goals and share information during your meetings.
The goals are grouped under six areas of concern: Budget – Health Care - Disability Assistance & Memorial Affairs - Education, Employment & Transition Assistance - Military Quality of Life - National Security, Foreign Affairs & POW/MIA
Local and Community Legislative Issues: Find out where your local legislators stand on Veterans issues and be prepared to address the issues at local gatherings or in letters.
VFW Action Corp: Show all members, especially new members how to sign up and receive the VFW Action Corp, weekly email and make sure they all respond to Action Alerts. YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE A MEMBER TO SUBSCRIBE TO VFW ACTION CORP! Sign up those neighbors and friend who aren’t eligible to join the Auxiliary.
Get Out the Vote: Be sure to vote in all elections – assist others in the voting process, hold a voters registration at a local fair or gathering.
Use MALTA Members Resources, Legislative. Show others what is available in MALTA.
DO NOT endorse any candidate on behalf of VFW Auxiliary, we MUST remain neutral.
DO NOT wear any VFW Auxiliary attire when campaigning for a candidate. You can wear attire when attending a town hall or legislative conference as long as you are not campaigning for a candidate.
