Patriotism Through Literacy and Illustrating America

NEW THIS YEAR:   PROGRAMS HAVE UNIQUE QR CODES WITH A DIRECT LINK TO THE PROGRAM.

Reading Buddies

Your Auxiliary or even one member may become a Reading Buddy. Reach out to the schools, scouts, or library to find kids to Buddy with. Find out their interest or select from the Patriotism through Literacy reading list. You can even zoom or telephone for these reading sessions if it works best, Use the hashtag #auxreadingbuddy to promote your program. Always gain permission from schools or parents and invite teachers and parents to participate.

Youth Groups

The Auxiliary has a history of sponsoring youth groups. Scouting groups and ROTC Units have been the primary groups. Let’s get outside the box and sponsor a Youth theater group, Robotics/STEM, Academic Challenge team, Key Club, or Good News Club. Always be sure to get proper permission. Many students need community service hours to graduate. Including them in other programs benefits both the Auxiliary and the Student.

Illustrating America Open to grades K-8, the art will be judged on theme and technique. This is a fantastic way to foster an interest and get them ready for Patriotic Art in High School. The form for student entry is available on MALTA under Member Resources. Entries are due to the Department Chairman before April 15, 2026. Rules are available in the National program book. The Department  1st  place winners in each category will receive a monetary award. Department First Place winner will be forwarded to National.

R.A. P. Cards and Youth Acts of Kindness Certificates

Did you know that National President Lois Callahan designed the first R.A.P. coin and card when she was the Youth Ambassador? Let’s continue to recognize patriotic Youth with cards and certificates. Everyone loves to be recognized doing good, let’s reward it this year.
